Shatta Wale Appears at Accra High Court in Show of Solidarity for Detained Fan Webkid

Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has made a personal appearance at the Accra High Court to lend support to his fan and Shatta Movement blogger, Webkid Afrika, whose cyberbullying case continues to draw widespread public attention.

Webkid, whose real name is Abdul Gafaru Sadi, was arrested by the Ghana Police Service on May 7, 2026, over allegations of cyberbullying following a complaint linked to derogatory remarks he allegedly made about Stonebwoy’s wife and family on social media.

A document from the court is believed to have indicated that the SM blogger was allegedly contracted by the dancehall artist’s former social media manager to post derogatory captions and misleading information about the artist’s family on X, formerly Twitter.

Webkid has been denied bail multiple times, with dozens of Shatta Movement supporters gathering at the premises of the Accra High Court on several occasions in anticipation of his release, only to leave disappointed by adjournments.

On Thursday, June 18, 2026, Webkid reappeared before the Accra High Court, but proceedings could not take place due to the absence of the presiding judge. The case was subsequently adjourned to Monday, June 22, 2026. YEN.COM.GH

Shatta Wale has been vocal in his support for the detained blogger since the outset. In a post shared on X on May 8, 2026, the musician stated that he and his fans would not hesitate to stage a protest on the streets of Accra if Webkid was not released, urging Shatta Movement members to await his signal before taking action. Webkid’s brother, who was present at one of the court hearings, emotionally appealed to Stonebwoy to show mercy, stating that he had been punished enough. “I don’t know the charges against my brother, but I heard Stonebwoy caused his arrest. I will plead with him to have mercy on Webkid and help us because he has punished him enough,” he said.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and no official statement has been issued by Stonebwoy or his management regarding the appeal.
